Speaker of National Assembly Gotani Hara is contemplating to refer the response by President Peter Mutharika on the four electoral bills to the constitutional court for guidance on way forward.
In statement released today, Gotani Hara reiterates the National Assembly’s commitment to respect the court ruling.

President Mutharika opted to withhold his assent saying the bills were unconstitutional.
The Malawi leader also refused to fire MEC Commissioners.
Meanwhile, the UTM and MCP have gone to court to challenge the legitimacy of current cohort of MEC Commissioners.
The parties are returning to court after the embattled MEC Commissioners released a calendar of events related to the 2020 fresh elections.
