Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani-Hara has tested positive for COVID-19.
Leader of the house in Parliament, Richard Chimwendo Banda has confirmed the development.
He says Hara tested positive today morning after she went to the hospital on her own after noting that some members of her close contacts had tested positive.
Chimwendo-Banda further said the speaker is enjoying robust health and her condition is stable.
Chimwendo then added that the development will not affect the proceedings in the House because the first and second Deputy speakers are available to lead the proceedings.
“She was available in the house on Monday but she did not have any contact with anyone as she was only in her office and her seat in the chamber.”
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance, Felix Mlusu is tomorrow expected to present the Mid-year Budget review.
